Streptococcus pasteurianus = Streptococcus gallolyticus subsp. gallolyticus
DNA-DNA hybridization values between Strepotcoccus gallolyticus and Streptococcus pasteurianus are less than 70% (Schlegel et al. 2003) suggesting that these two organisms are distinct species in spite of phenotypic similarities. Consequently, Streptoccus pasteurianus is presently treated as such in the NCBI taxonomy database, and not as a subspecies of Streptococcus gallolyticus as recommended by Schlegel et al.
