Pneumonic pasteurellosis, caused by Pasteurella multocida, is a common respiratory infection of ruminants that has major economic and welfare implications throughout the world. Genome sequencing and analysis of virulent and less-virulent bovine Pasteurella multocida isolates can help in the identification of key genes involved in pathogenesis and the immune response. Here we have sequenced the genome of a bovine P. multocida strain which was isolated from a calf with clinical pasteurellosis/bovine respiratory disease.
