The MsMYB35 transcription factor in alfalfa (Medicago sativa L) is specifically expressed in anthers and plays a crucial role in pollen development.

To explore the molecular mechanisms underlying male sterility in Medicago sativa L. (alfalfa), we selected the cytoplasmic male sterile line (MSJN1A) and its maintainer line (MSJN1B) flower buds. Transcriptome sequencing was performed using the Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform, and the sequencing results were annotated, screened, and analyzed. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were selected based on the criteria of RDR < 0.05 and |log2 Fold Change| > 1 or |log2 Fold Change| < -1. Compared to MSJN1B, a total of 5153 DEGs were identified, including 2526 downregulated genes and 2627 upregulated genes.
