Staphylococcus haemolyticus is emerging cause of nosocomial infections and now is the second most frequently coagulase-negative (CoNS) staphylococci isolated from blood cultures. S. haemolyticus is ranked as the most resistant among CoNS species. The presence of endemic S. haemolyticus hospital clones and spread of resistant clones have been reported. Previous molecular epidemiology analyses of S. haemolyticus strains isolated from hospitalized patients in Russian Federation were performed by multilocus sequence typing (MLST).
