Salmonella is the most common cause of gastroenteritis in the world and unsafe food is one of the main sources of infection. Over the past five years, whole-genome analysis has enabled the high-resolution characterization of clinical and foodborne Salmonella responsible for typhoid fever, food-borne illness or contamination in producers in the food sector. In this study, we explore the genomic proximity of the Salmonella enterica subsp enterica most frequently isolated in humans and food chain worldwide with a particular attention to France.
