Extraintestinal Pathogenic Escherichia coli are frequent contaminants in retail poultry meat. They are associated with ulcerative colitis, sepsis, and urinary tract infections. However, most Extraintestinal pathogenic E.coli (ExPEC) isolates which have published genomic sequences are clinical isolates, not food isolates.
