L. tanakae is a common snailfish species in the coastal water of Korea, China and Japan. It has several economic impacts on marine aquaculture and fisheries due to its predatory behavior on juvenile Japaneses flounder and its commercial fishery activities in some Japanese and Korean localities. Moreover, it has unique morphological character of thin, loose and gelatinous skin without any scale which might help to unveil the mechanism of evolutionary adaptation of hadal snailfish species. Thus, here we report the De novo genome sequencing and annotated assembly of Liparis tanakae to survey its specific genes related to skin and skeleton by a histochemical method. Less...
