host descriptionPatient with history of end-stage renal disease presents with staphylococcal bacteremia and septic shock secondary to an infected dialysis catheter. Patient was managed surgically with central line exchange complicated by a visualized catheter tip-associated thrombus. Patient was managed medically with vancomycin plus cefazolin consolidated to daptomycin monotherapy. Echocardiogram was unremarkable. Patient was discharged home in stable condition. Duration of bacteremia: 3 days.
