M. orygis is an emerging animal lineage member of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex pathogens causing tuberculosis (TB) in a wide range of animals and humans. Detailed information about the drug resistance-related mutations and the status of virulence-related genes and genomic islands in M. orygis are yet to be deciphered. Considering its enormous zoonotic potential, and to gain comprehensive genomic and epidemiological knowledge, the genome of an M. orygis isolate from cattle in India was fully sequenced with high sequencing depth leading to the generation of a complete circular genome.
