isolation sourceMycobacterium bovis subsp. bovis strain AF2122/97. This strain is a fully virulent strain that was isolated in 1997 in the UK from a cow suffering necrotic lesions in lung and bronchomediastinal lymph nodes. The strain was also reported to infect and persist in badgers that are considered to be a significant source of bovine infection.

Description

We report an update to the reference genome sequence of the bovine tuberculosis bacillus Mycobacterium bovis AF2122/97 generated using an integrative multi-‘omics approach. Updates include 42 new coding sequences, 14 modified annotations, 26 single nucleotide polymorphisms and disclosure that the RD900 locus, previously described as absent from the M. bovis AF2122/97 genome, is in fact present.
