Description

This strain is part of a comparative study evaluating E. coli clones isolated from the gut of hospitalized patients with strains causing urinary tract infection in one single center. The Escherichia coli strain SMG005F2 was isolated from a rectal swab from an inpatient without urinary tract infection. This sequence refers to clone F2 from the patient SMG005. The other clone isolated from the rectal swab of the same inpatient is SMG005F3. The strain fulfils the molecular criteria to be classified as UPEC and ExPEC.
