Description

Stenotrophomonas maltophilia is an emerging Gram-negative bacterial pathogen that causes multiple infections primarily in immunocompromised patients. Mortality rates can reach 65% and many isolates are multidrug-resistant. S. maltophilia is found in many natural environments but also contaminates hospital surfaces. We report the complete genome of a clinical isolate of S. maltophilia (STEN00241), which will facilitate future research on this emerging pathogen.
