host descriptionPatient with end-stage renal disease presents with lower back pain and staphylococcal bacteremia secondary to an infected catheter. Magnetic resonance imaging reveales lumbosacral osteomyelitis with epidural phlegmon, abscess and localized arachnoiditis. Surgical management included laminectomy and epidural phlegmon evacuation. Medical management included vancomycin transitioned to daptomycin. Patient was discharged in stable condition to a skilled nursing facility. Duration of bacteremia: 6 days.
