Link to GeneReviews
GeneReview chapters are updated regularly; the way to be assured of having the most current version of a GeneReview is by hyperlinking to it.
Hyperlinks to individual GeneReviews can be constructed using data in downloadable files on the ftp site.
URLs
The data file GRtitle_shortname_NBKid.txt includes four fields: GR_shortname, GR_title, NBK_id, and PMID. Links to GeneReviews on Bookshelf can be constructed using the values for GR_shortname or NBK_id.
For example, either of the following URLs will go to the GeneReview Polycystic Kidney Disease, Autosomal Dominant:
Links to a GeneReview on PubMed can be constructed using the PMID:
Determine the Availability of a GeneReview
The availability of a GeneReview can be determined based on associated values – gene symbol, OMIM number, or UniProt ID – in one of three data files:
Use the gene symbol, OMIM number, or UniProt values in these files to determine if a corresponding GeneReview is available. Note: If a GeneReview is associated with more than one OMIM number, gene symbol, or protein value, the GeneReview will have multiple rows in the data file, one for each OMIM (etc.) value. Likewise, if (e.g.) an OMIM number is associated with more than one GeneReview, the OMIM value will appear multiple times in the data file.
