This page maintains a record of all major corrections that have been made to the online version of Essentials of Glycobiology, 4th Edition. The corrections identified on this page had not been made to the print copy at the time of its first printing in May 2022.

These corrections are maintained and edited by the book's principal editors. They are organized by the date they were made, the most recent corrections being listed first.

Change to Contents

For Chapter 34, the third author’s name was changed to Yvette van Kooyk.

Change to Figure 12.1 legend

A third sentence was added:

In mammalian cells, ethanolamine-PO₄ on α1-6linked Man (Man-2) rather than α1-2linked Man (Man-3) is preferentially used to attach GPI to some GPI-anchored proteins.

Change to Figure 47.3

A hydrogen was added to the structures of Neu5Ac and Neu5Gc: The "N" at carbon-5 was replaced by "NH" two times. In addition, the red arrow now points to the oxygen, not the hydrogen of the OH in Neu5Gc.

Change to Chapter 51 subsection titled Release of Glycans from Proteins

In the last sentence, "(Galβ-1,4GalNAc-αS/T)" has been changed to "(Galβ-1,3GalNAcαS/T)".

The structure of 6-diazo-5-oxo-L-norleucine was incorrect and has been changed to:
