What pedigree software does dbSNP use?
Declared individual relationships (pedigrees defined by a curating authority) in dbSNP are described in dbSNP’s XML Schema as attributes on the Individual/SourceInfo element. The schema is available online.
The Katrina Forensic Identification team in Louisiana used Progeny 6 Enterprise Edition for pedigree management (it is very powerful). There is also a Laboratory Edition that manages genotype data as well if the user will be organizing data for a whole genome association study (this costs additional $$$). (7/21/06)
