Porcine ovary tissues : Minipig ovary vs. Pig ovary

(Submitter supplied) Successful production of offspring in mammals is determined by the growth and apoptosis pathway, which is responsible for maintaining the balance between the estrous cycle. It is also believed that the development of the porcine ovary is regulated similarly; however, the molecular mechanism underlying differences in follicle development in the minipig and pig has yet to be elucidated. The present study aimed to identify developmental-associated genes differentially expressed in the minipig vs. more...

Transcriptomic analysis of the porcine anterior pituitary gland during the peri-implantation period

(Submitter supplied) In pigs, the peri-implantation period is recognized as determinant of successful reproduction, and it is controlled by neuroendocrinal interactions among signals originating from the female hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis, uterus, and developing embryo. The transcriptomic activity of the pituitary gland may influence reproductive processes occurring in pigs during the peri-implantation period. The aim of this study was to determine alternations in gene expression in the porcine pituitary gland during the peri-implantation period (days 15-16 of pregnancy) in comparison with that during the respective days of the estrous cycle using a microarray approach.

The in vitro influence of adiponectin on the porcine myometrium on days 15 to 16 of gestation.

(Submitter supplied) Adiponectin is secreted by the white adipose tissue and is one of the most important hormones that regulate metabolic homeostasis. The expression of adiponectin and adiponectin receptor genes and proteins in reproductive organs, such as the testes, ovaries and uterus, suggests that adiponectin is also involved in the regulation of reproductive functions. The aim of this study was to explore the influence of adiponectin on global gene expression in the porcine endometrium during early gestation, on days 15 to 16 of pregnancy (implantation period).

The in vitro influence of orexin B on the porcine endometrium on days 15 to 16 of gestation.

(Submitter supplied) Orexins, namely orexin A (OXA) and orexin B (OXB) belongs to the family of neuropeptides produced mainly by specific neurons of the lateral region of the hypothalamus. Primarily orexins were recognized as hormones involved exclusively in the regulation of food intake and energy homeostasis. However, a growing body of evidences indicate their involvement in the regulation of an increasing number of biological processes, inter alia, in the regulation of the reproductive functions. more...

The in vitro influence of orexin B on the porcine myometrium on days 15 to 16 of gestation.

(Submitter supplied) Orexin A (OXA) and orexin B (OXB) are hypothalamic-derived peptides that participate in the regulation of energy metabolism, food intake and reproductive function by influencing the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. Orexins are also produced in the endometrium, myometrium and placenta, which suggests that they could act as a link between energy metabolism and the reproductive system. The aim of this study was to explore the influence of orexin B on global gene expression in the porcine myometrium during early gestation, on days 15 to 16 of pregnancy (implantation period).

The in vitro influence of adiponectin on the porcine endometrium on days 15 to 16 of gestation.

(Submitter supplied) Adiponectin is a hormone secreted primarily by white adipose tissue. Recent studies have shown that adiponectin and its receptors (AdipoR1 and AdipoR2) are expressed in different reproductive tissues, including the ovary and uterus. This newly discovered endocrine system plays an important role in the regulation of reproductive processes. The aim of this study was to explore the influence of adiponectin on global gene expression in the porcine endometrium during early gestation, on days 15 to 16 of pregnancy (implantation period).

The transcriptomic profile of porcine anterior pituitary cells is influenced by adiponectin

(Submitter supplied) Adiponectin is thought to be involved in the regulation of metabolic homeostasis and reproductive processes. Adiponectin controls carbohydrate and lipid metabolism by regulating the fatty acid oxidation process, increasing insulin sensitivity and decreasing plasma triglyceride levels. Adiponectin also plays an important role in the modulation of female reproductive functions, both directly and by influencing the secretory functions of the higher branches of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. more...

The in vitro effect of orexin A on the porcine myometrial transcriptomic profile during early-implantation period

(Submitter supplied) Orexins belong to the group of metabolism regulating factors connected mainly with the nervous system. Both biologically active neuropeptides, orexin A (OXA) and orexin B (OXB) are products of the proteolytic cleavage of common 130 amino-acid precursor – prepro-orexin (PPO). In the reproductive system orexins has been found to act not only on the endocrine, but also auto- and paracrine manner. In the present study we focused on the effect of OXA treatment on the global gene expression in the porcine myometrium during the most dynamic phase of the early pregnancy – the implantation period (days 15 to 16 of gestation).
