Bis(2-chloroethoxy)methane-induced heart toxicity and recovery in male fisher rats

(Submitter supplied) Specific gene changes after exposure to the heart toxin, bis(2-chloroethoxy)methane, were analyzed to elucidate critical pathways associated with recovery from heart toxicity. Bis(2-chloroethoxy)methane was administered to male F344/N rats at 0, 200, 400, or 600 mg/kg by dermal exposure for up to 16 days. Heart toxicity occurred at day 2 of exposure in all three regions of the heart (atrium, ventricle, interventricular septum) and was characterized by myofiber vacuolation, necrosis, mononuclear-cell infiltration, and atrial thrombosis. more...

Bis(2-chloroethoxy)methane effect on hearts: time course

Analysis of hearts exposed to the heart toxin bis(2-chloroethoxy)methane (CEM) for 2 or 5 days. Toxicity occurs at day 2 of CEM dosing, and recovery at day 5 despite continued dosing. Results provide insight into the molecular basis of heart toxicity and recovery during the exposure to CEM.

Agilent-011868 Rat Oligo Microarray G4130A (Feature Number version)

(Submitter supplied) This microarray contains representative sequences derived from rat RefSeq, high-quality public rat mRNA accessions, homologs to human and mouse RefSeq, EST clusters determined by a leading biopharmaceutical company and the Incyte Zooseq database as well as toxicology markers determined by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) and others. Many of the toxicology markers used in the design of this microarray were released to the public domain for the first time and will be used on this unique microarray product. more...
