Wing imaginal disc proneural cluster cells of the peripheral nervous system

Expression profiling of wing imaginal disc proneural cluster cells (PNCs) of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS PNCs adopt the sensory organ precursor cell fate. PNCs purified by fluorescence-activated cell sorting. Results provide insight into the function of proneural genes in neurogenesis.

Sorted wing disc proneural cluster cells

(Submitter supplied) Fluorescence-activated cell sorting of M4-GFP wing imaginal disc cells was used to recover a purified population of the cells that comprise the “proneural clusters” from which sensory organ precursors of the peripheral nervous system (PNS) arise. Time course microarray approach comparing the ectopic expression and loss-of-function of gcm to wildtype

(Submitter supplied) The determination of glial fate in the developing embryonic nervous system of Drosophila is dependent on the master regulatory gene glial cells missing (gcm). gcm encodes a transcription factor and serves as a binary switch by inducing the glial fate and repressing the neuronal pathway.
