Glucosamine and high glucose effect on renal mesangial cells

Analysis of renal mesangial MES-13 cells treated with high glucose or glucosamine. Mesangial cells play an important role in the development of diabetic glomerulosclerosis and renal failure. Glucosamine and high glucose mimic the hyperglycemic and hemodynamic insults of diabetic kidney disease.

Transcriptome Profiling of High Glucose and Glucosamine-Induced Mouse Mesangial Cells

(Submitter supplied) The renal mesangial cells play an important role in the development of diabetic glomerulosclerosis and renal failure. We have previously demonstrated some of the effects of high glucose are mediated via the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway (HBP) in which fructose-6-phosphate is converted to glucosamine-6-phosphate by the rate-limiting enzyme glutamine:fructose-6-phosphate amidotransferase (GFAT). Using Affymetrix murine expression U430 2.0 chips, we examined the global effects of high glucose (HG) and glucosamine (GlcN) on the transcriptomes of a mouse mesangial cell line (MES-13). more...

Microarray expression data from human renal mesangial cells (HMC) treated with a Cyclosporine A (CsA) time course.

(Submitter supplied) HMCs were treated with CsA (4.2 µM) for 0 12 and 48 hours. To exmaine global gene changes in the renal mesangium following CsA treatment in order to identify novel contributors to CsA-induced renal dysfunction Microarray analysis was used to identify novel mechanisms of CsA nephrotoxicity in the golmerulus

Genome-wide analysis of high glucose regulated genes expression in fully differentiated and polarized CaCo-2 Cells

(Submitter supplied) Cells were grown on collagen coated insert for 21 days under 25mM (high glucose) or 5mM (control) glucose conditions. We investigated relevant target genes that could be regulated by high glucose levels in CaCo-2 cells. We intended to find candidate genes that may play a role for intestinal glucose absorption.
