Temporal effects of intermittent- and sustained hypoxia on gene expression patterns in rat lungs

(Submitter supplied) Time-course gene expression profiles were obtained from lung tissues of the rats treated with room air, intermittent- (IH) or sustained hypoxia (SH) for 1, 3, 7, 14 and 30 days using CodeLink microarrays. Using a systems biology approach, we observed that two different mechanisms are involved in the lung responses to IH and SH: IH leads to increased G-protein coupled signaling-, ion transport-, neuronal- and steroid hormone receptor activities; whereas SH causes increased blood vessel morphogenesis and immune responses. more...

Intermittent and sustained hypoxia effects on lung: time course

Analysis of lungs from adult males subjected to intermittent (IH) or sustained hypoxia (SH) for up to 30 days. IH is associated with sleep-disordered breathing, and SH with parenchymal lung disorders. Results provide insight into molecular mechanisms underlying hypoxic lung response during IH or SH.

Expression data from adrenal glands from normoxic and hypoxic neonatal rats

(Submitter supplied) We hypothesize that changes in adrenal gene expression mediate the increased plasma corticosterone and steroidogenesis in rat pups exposed to hypoxia from birth. Keywords: effects of hypoxia on adrenal steroidogenesis in the neonatal rat

Hypoxia effect on the adrenal gland

Analysis of adrenal glands from postnatal day 7 animals exposed to hypoxia from birth. Results provide insight into the role of the adrenal gland in mediating the increase in plasma corticosterone and steroidogenesis observed in animals exposed to hypoxia from birth.

Expression data from three human cancer cell lines (PC-3, SK-OV-3, WM793B) exposed to experimental cycling and chronic hypoxa in vitro

(Submitter supplied) One of the most important features of tumor microenvironment, imposing adverse effect on patient prognosis, is low oxygen tension. There are two types of hypoxia that may occur within tumor mass: chronic and cycling. Preliminary studies point at cycling hypoxia as being more relevant in induction of aggressive phenotype of tumor cells and radioresistance though little is known about the molecular mechanism of this phenomenon. more...

Next generation sequencing for temporal analysis at high altitude in Indian and Kyrgyz healthy males

(Submitter supplied) Next-generation sequencing (NGS) has revolutionized systems-based analysis of cellular pathways. The aim of the study is to analyse the time series analysis at high altitude to dynamically capture the complete drift impringes in humans and specific selection of decisive time point for therapeutic interventions.
