Multiple mechanisms likely underlie dietary protection against cancer, with effects influenced by target tissue response, cell-cell interactions and developmental context. Mammary development during pregnancy (controlateral control vs. cleared fat pad) to define transdifferentiation factors

(Submitter supplied) Tissue from cleared mammary fat pad and sham-operated controlateral control was removed before and at 10, 15,17, and 19 days of pregnancy. Cleared vs. controlateral tissue was hybridized in dye-swap design to in-house cDNA microarry platform. This design aims to identify factors signaling from the epithelial part of the mammary gland to the surrounding fat pad to initiate adipo-epithelial transdifferentiation.

Dietary exposure to soy or whey proteins alters colonic global gene expression profiles during rat colon tumorigenesis

(Submitter supplied) We previously reported that lifetime consumption of soy proteins or whey proteins reduced the incidence of azoxymethane (AOM)-induced colon tumors in rats. To obtain insights into these effects, global gene expression profiles of colons from rats with lifetime ingestion of casein (CAS, control diet), soy protein isolate (SPI), and whey protein hydrolysate (WPH) diets were determined.
