Alterations in Cell Growth and Signaling in ErbB3 Binding Protein -1 (Ebp1) Deficient Mice

(Submitter supplied) Background: The ErbB3 binding protein-1 (Ebp1) belongs to a family of DNA/RNA binding proteins implicated in cell growth, apoptosis and differentiation. However, the physiological role of Ebp1 in the whole organism is not known. Therefore, we generated Ebp1-deficient mice carrying a gene trap insertion in intron 2 of the Ebp1 (pa2g4) gene. Results: Ebp1 -/- mice were on average 30% smaller than wild type and heterozygous sex matched littermates. more...

Ebp1's effect in prostate cancer

(Submitter supplied) Therapies targeting the androgen receptor are critical for treatment of hormone refractory prostate cancer. We have previously demonstrated that Ebp1, a protein isolated by its ability to bind ErbB3, is a downstream effector of heregulin activated pathways and an AR corepressor. As Ebp1 is decreased in preclinical models of hormone refractory prostate cancer, we studied the ability of Ebp1 to mitigate the hormone refractory phenotype. more...

Brg1 enables rapid growth of the early embryo by suppressing genes that regulate apoptosis and cell growth arrest

(Submitter supplied) Global gene expression analysis revealed that genes up regulated in Rosa26CreERTM; Brg1floxed/floxed embryos (Rosa26CreERTM; Brg1floxed/floxed hereafter referred as Brg1d/d that is designated for deleted Brg1floxed/floxed alleles in embryos) negatively regulate cell cycle progression, and cell growth.
