Caco-2 cells: cycling vs 21-days differentiated cells

(Submitter supplied) Transcriptional profile of 21-days differentiated Caco-2 cells compared to Caco-2 cycling cells. Goal was to demonstrate the ability of Caco-2 cells to express most of the markers typical of differentiated enterocytes. A novel protocol of line maintenance was used.

Caco-2 cells: 21-days differentiated cells maintained with the low density protocol (LD cells) vs 21-days differentiated cells maintained with the high density protocol (HD cells)

(Submitter supplied) Transcriptional profile of 21-days differentiated LD Caco-2 cells compared to 21-days differentiated HD Caco-2 cells. Goal was to find some differences in the genome profile of the LD and HD Caco-2 cells that could be addressed to the different protocols used for the line maintenance.

Caco2 polarization time-course

(Submitter supplied) CELL CULTURE: The human intestinal epithelial cell line Caco-2 (obtained from Dr. Stanley Falkow, Stanford University) was used to study the genome-wide expression program underlying the transition from cell proliferation to establishment of a polarized epithelial layer. Cells were first grown in sparse culture on plastic p15 dishes to generate a population of "contact naive" cells. These cells were combined and plated at confluency on Costar filter inserts. more...

Colon carcinoma cell line differentiation: transporter and ion channel expression profile

Analysis of colon carcinoma Caco-2 cells cultured for various lengths of time up to 3 weeks in flasks or on filters. An array focusing on transporters and ion channels was used. Results provide insight into the influence of cell differentiation on the mRNA expression of transporters and channels.

Hydrocortisone induces changes in gene expression and differentiation of immature human enterocytes

(Submitter supplied) It It is known that functional maturation of the small intestine occurring during the weaning period is facilitated by glucocorticoids (such as hydrocortisone, HC) including the increased expression of digestive hydrolases. However, the molecular mechanism(s) are not well understood, particularly in human gut. Here we report a microarray analysis of HC- induced changes in gene expression in H4 (a human fetal small intestinal epithelial cell line well-characterized in numerous previous studies). more...
