Discovery of novel hypermethylated gene loci in prostate cancer using genome wide coverage CpG island microarrays

(Submitter supplied) In order to identify methylation changes in prostate cancer, we performed a genome-wide analysis of DNA methylation using Agilent human CpG island arrays. We then chose specific genes to validate methylation both in the same cases as were hybridized to the array (using quantitative EpiTYPER analysis) and in an independent series of prostate cancer samples (using MethyLight quantitative methylation specific PCR). more...

Metabolic pathways enriched according to ERG status are associated with biochemical recurrence in Hispanic/Latino patients with prostate cancer

(Submitter supplied) Background The role of ERG-status molecular subtyping in prognosis of prostate cancer (PCa) is still under debate. In this study, we identified differentially expressed genes (DEGs) according to ERG-status to explore their enriched pathways and implications in prognosis in Hispanic/Latino PCa patients. Methods RNA from 78 Hispanic PCa tissues from radical prostatectomies (RP) were used for RNA-sequencing. more...

Lipidomic profiling of clinical prostate cancer reveals targetable alterations in membrane lipid composition

(Submitter supplied) Dysregulated lipid metabolism is a prominent feature of prostate cancer that is driven by androgen receptor (AR) signaling. Here we used quantitative mass spectrometry to define the “lipidome” in prostate tumors with matched benign tissues (n=21), independent unmatched tissues (n=47), and primary prostate explants cultured with the clinical AR antagonist enzalutamide (n=43). Significant differences in lipid composition were detected and spatially visualized in tumors compared to matched benign samples. more...

MicroRNA expression data for human primary and metastatic prostate cancer samples and control normal adjacent benign prostate

(Submitter supplied) Current knowledge of prostate cancer genomes is largely based on relatively small patient cohorts using single modality analysis platforms. Here we report concordant assessment of DNA copy number, mRNA and microRNA expression and focused exon resequencing in prostate tumors from 218 patients with primary or metastatic prostate cancer with a median of 5 years clinical follow-up, now made available as a public resource. more...

Expression data of LoVo cells treated by 10μM asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA) for 96h in serum starvation medium

(Submitter supplied) ADMA is an endogenous metabolite, which is elevated in cancer patients. Previously, we observed that ADMA treatment attenuated serum starvation-induced apoptosis in LoVo cells. However, the biological functions of ADMA in tumor cells are largely unknown. In current study, we used microarray and untargeted metabolic profiling to investigate the global impacts of ADMA on LoVo cells.

Metabolic alterations in aged human skin in vivo

(Submitter supplied) Aging human skin undergoes significant morphological and functional changes such as wrinkle formation, reduced wound healing capacity, and altered epidermal barrier function. Besides known age-related alterations like DNA-methylation changes, metabolic adaptations have been more recently linked to impaired skin function in old humans. Understanding of these metabolic adaptations in aged skin are of special interest, because topical treatments could reverse age-dependent metabolic changes of human skin in vivo to affect age associated skin disorders. more...
