Genome-wide survey by ChIP-seq reveals CREB1 regulation of lncRNAs in gastric cancer.

(Submitter supplied) cAMP responsive element binding protein 1 (CREB1) is a transcription factor belonging to the basic leucine zipper (bZIP) family. Previous studies on the transcriptional regulatory targets of CREB1 have focused on protein-coding genes. The non-coding targets regulated by CREB1 in gastric cancer remain to be further studied. Herein, the genome-wide mapping of CREB1 binding in gastric cancer cell AGS was determined by chromatin immunoprecipitation sequencing.

A novel long non-coding RNA HOXC-AS3 mediates tumorigenesis of gastric cancer by binding to YBX1

(Submitter supplied) Recently, increasing evidence shows that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play a significant role in human tumorigenesis. However, the function of lncRNAs in human gastric cancer remains largely unknown. By using publicly available expression profiling data from gastric cancer and integrating bioinformatics analyses, we screen and identify a novel lncRNA, HOXC-AS3. HOXC-AS3 is significantly increased in gastric cancer tissues and is correlated with clinical outcomes of gastric cancer. more...

Identification of downstream target genes of transcription factor ZEB1, lncRNA FGD5-AS1 and miR-34a-5p in gastric cancer

(Submitter supplied) As one of the most abundant lncRNAs in cells, the biological function of lncRNA FGD5-AS1 remains largely unclear in cancers, especially in gastric cancer (GC). In addition, the reason for such high levels of FGD5-AS1 in cells remains unknown. In this study, FGD5-AS1 was proved to be a ZEB1-related lncRNA which was overexpressed and predicted poor prognosis in GC. Knockdown of FGD5-AS1 decreased GC proliferation in vitro and in vivo. more...

microRNA-7-5p inhibits melanoma cell proliferation and metastasis by suppressing RelA

(Submitter supplied) microRNA-7-5p (miR-7-5p) is an established tumor suppressor in multiple cancer types and inhibits growth and invasion by suppressing expression and activity of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway. While melanoma is not typically driven by EGFR signaling, expression of miR-7-5p is reduced in metastatic tumors compared to primary melanoma. Here, we investigated the biological and clinical significance of miR-7-5p in melanoma. more...
