Comprehensive identification of RNA transcripts and construction of RNA networks in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

(Submitter supplied) Here, we report a comprehensive analysis of dysregulated mRNAs, lncRNAs, miRNAs and circRNAs in peripheral blood of COPD patients with high-throughput RNA sequencing. We mapped about 50~80 million sequence reads per sample to the human genome. GSEA analysis showed that these dysregulated RNAs correlate with several critical biological processes such as RNA modification, and RNA metabolism. RT-qPCR (SYBR Green assays) with more clinical COPD samples were used for the validation of some dysregulated RNAs. more...

Comparative analysis of the microRNA transcriptome revealed high altitude adaptation in yak (Bos grunniens)

(Submitter supplied) Purpose: The goal of this study was to reveal epigenetic differences in the microRNA transcriptomes of two organs (heart and lung) between yak and cattle. Methods: Three unrelated 2-year old adult females for both of yaks and cattle (Luxi Huang cattle) were used in this study. Two of significant hypoxia-responsive tissues (heart and lung) were rapidly collected from each carcass, washed three times with physiological saline, immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen. more...

Whole transcriptome resequencing of the cavernous tissue of the penis of rats

(Submitter supplied) Background: There is growing evidence that circular RNAs (circRNAs) play an important role in a variety of diseases, including erectile dysfunction (ED). Nevertheless, the role of circRNAs in cavernous nerve-damaging ED (CNI-ED) is unknown. Here, we aimed to discover new circRNAs, investigate their potential role in the pathogenesis of CNI-ED, and construct a circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network. Methods: Twelve male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into bilateral cavernous nerve crush (BCNC) and control groups. more...

Identification of circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network and primary blast lung injury-related circRNAs in mouse

(Submitter supplied) Background. Primary blast lung injury (PBLI) was the main cause of death for blast injury patients, however, there is no diagnosis and effective treatment for PBLI in clinical practice. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) is becoming new regulators of various diseases, and the performance of circRNAs in PBLI remain largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate the PBLI-related circRNA, to provide a new idea for the PBLI diagnosis and treatment. more...

The expression profiles of longissimus dorsi muscle from six Laiwu pigs (three with extremely high and three with extremely low intramuscular fat content).

(Submitter supplied) To understand the role of message RNA (mRNAs, lncRNAs and circRNAs) in regulation of intramuscular fat deposition, the expression profiles of longissimus dorsi muscle from six Laiwu pigs were sequenced based on rRNA-depleted library construction. We then performed gene expression profiling analysis using data obtained from RNA-seq.

Comparative microRNA Transcriptome in Domestic Goats Reveals Adaptation to High Altitude

(Submitter supplied) High-altitude adaptation is a representative example of vertebrates getting adapted to harsh and extreme environments. To investigate the miRNA expression alterations of goats that were induced by high altitude stress, we performed comparative miRNA transcriptome analysis on six hypoxia-sensitive tissues (heart, kidney, liver, lung, skeletal muscle and spleen) in two indigenous goat populations from distinct altitudes (600 m and 3000 m). more...
