Study of the usefulness of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells for the analysis of metabolic recovery after weight loss (METAHEALTH-TEST)

(Submitter supplied) The aim of this study is to design and validate a test, METAHEALTH-TEST, based on gene expression analysis in blood cells, to quickly and easily analyse metabolic health. This test will be used to analyse metabolic improvement in overweight/obese individuals and in metabolically obese normal-weight (MONW) individuals after undergoing a weight loss intervention and/or an intervention for improvement in eating habits and lifestyle. more...

Distinct whole blood transcriptome profile of children with metabolic healthy overweight/obesity compared to metabolic unhealthy overweight/obesity

(Submitter supplied) Background and aims: Youth populations with overweight/obesity (OW/OB) exhibit heterogeneity in cardiometabolic health phenotypes (e.g. fasting glucose, serum triglycerides, etc.). The underling mechanisms for those differences are still unclear. This study aimed to analyze the whole blood transcriptome profile (RNA-seq) of children with metabolic healthy overweight/obesity (MHO) and metabolic unhealthy overweight/obesity (MUO) phenotypes. more...

Differences in metabolic biomarkers in the blood and gene expression profiles of peripheral blood mononuclear cells among normal weight, mildly obese, and moderately obese subjects

(Submitter supplied) Objectives: We compared metabolic biomarkers in the blood and PBMC gene expression profiles among normal weight, mildly obese, and moderately obese Korean adult men. Design: Subjects were classified as normal weight (BMI, 18.5~23 kg/m2), mildly obese (BMI, 25~27.5 kg/m2), and moderately obese (BMI, 27.5~30 kg/m2). Results: High leptin, lipids (except LDL- and HDL-cholesterol), and apolipoprotein B levels and low adiponectin and HDL-cholesterol levels were present in the plasma of both mildly and moderately obese subjects. more...

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells as a source of cold exposure biomarkers

(Submitter supplied) Male ferrets, aged 3 months, were divided into two group: one group remained at 22 degrees Celsius, while the other group was acclimatized to 4 degrees Celsius for one week. After sacrification, inguinal and periaortic white adipose tissues were dissected, and peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) were isolated. The three tissues are used for RNA isolation and subsequent global gene expression profiling using custom Agilent ferret-specific 2x400K microarrays. more...
