miRNA sequencing in liver of rats exposed to glyphosate, MON 52276, and a mixture of pesticides

(Submitter supplied) Small RNAs have emerged as a promising new type of biomarker to monitor health status and track the development of diseases. Here we report changes in the levels of small RNAs in the liver of rats exposed to a mixture (MIX) of six pesticides frequently detected in foodstuffs (azoxystrobin, boscalid, chlorpyrifos, glyphosate, imidacloprid and thiabendazole), and glyphosate (G50) (50 mg/kg bw/day), or its representative EU commercial herbicide formulation Roundup MON 52276 (R50) at the same glyphosate equivalent doses in comparison to a control group (CON).

Reduced representation bisulfite sequencing in liver of rats exposed to glyphosate, MON 52276, and a mixture of pesticides

(Submitter supplied) Human health effects from chronic exposure to pesticide residues are little investigated. We compared standard histopathology and serum biochemistry measures and multi-omics analyses in an in vivo subchronic toxicity test of a glyphosate, its formulated product MON 52276, and mixture of six pesticide active ingredients frequently detected in foodstuffs (azoxystrobin, boscalid, chlorpyrifos, glyphosate, imidacloprid and thiabendazole). more...

Transcript profiles of juvenile female brown trout exposed to glyphosate and Roundup herbicides.

(Submitter supplied) This study aimed to investigate the hepatic transcriptional response of brown trout to glyphosate, and its formulated product, Roundup. We exposed juvenile female brown trout to three concentrations of glyphosate (0.01, 0.5 and 10 mg/L) and Roundup (0.01, 0.5 and 10 mg/L glyphosate acid equivalent) for 14 days and sequenced the hepatic transcriptome of 6 individual females per treatment group in order to determine the global mechanisms of toxicity of this widely used herbicide. more...

Wide-scale transcriptome disturbance underlies liver and kidney pathology from chronic ultra low dose Roundup exposure [kidney]

(Submitter supplied) Glyphosate-based herbicides (GBH) are the major pesticides used worldwide. Converging evidence suggests that GBH residues pose a particular risk to the kidneys and liver. However, the existence of biological effects with negative health implications at low environmentally relevant doses remains unresolved. A previous investigation addressed this issue, by conducting a 2-year feeding study, which included 10 female Sprague Dawley rats administered via drinking water with 0.1 ppb of a major Roundup formulation (50 ng/L glyphosate equivalent dilution). more...

Role of cell wall proteins in Saccharomyces cerevisiae’s response to commercial formulations of glyphosate and contribution of Ty elements to adaptation mechanisms

(Submitter supplied) The use of glyphosate-based herbicides is widespread, despite its extensive use its effects are yet to be deciphered completely. The additives in commercial formulations of glyphosate though labelled inert when used individually, has adverse effects when used in combination with other additives and the active ingredient. An RNA seq study was performed to thoroughly investigate the changes that occur in a sensitive and a resistant strain at the transcriptome level on exposure to a commercial formulation of glyphosate. more...
