Expression profile and potential functions of circulating long noncoding RNAs in acute ischemic stroke in the Southern Chinese Han population

(Submitter supplied) Background: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been confirmed to be associated with ischemic stroke (IS); however, their involvement still needs to be extensively explored. Therefore, we aimed to study the expression profile of lncRNAs and the potential roles and mechanisms of lncRNAs in the pathogenesis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) in the Southern Chinese Han population. Methods: lncRNA and mRNA expression profiles in AIS were analyzed using high-throughput RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) and validated using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). more...

circRNA expression pattern in the pathogenesis of aseptic lossening

(Submitter supplied) Increasing evidence has demonstrated that circular RNA exerts important function in the pathogenesis of some diseases. While, the contributions of circRNAs to aseptic lossening after total hip arthroplasty remain largely unknown. Our research is to explore the differently expressed circRNAs and elucidate complex regulated mechanism of circRNAs in aseptic lossening. The differently expressed circRNAs were identified by RNA sequencing analysis. more...

Identification of circRNA-miRNA-mRNA network and primary blast lung injury-related circRNAs in mouse

(Submitter supplied) Background. Primary blast lung injury (PBLI) was the main cause of death for blast injury patients, however, there is no diagnosis and effective treatment for PBLI in clinical practice. Circular RNAs (circRNAs) is becoming new regulators of various diseases, and the performance of circRNAs in PBLI remain largely unknown. This study aimed to investigate the PBLI-related circRNA, to provide a new idea for the PBLI diagnosis and treatment. more...

Profiling and bioinformatics analyses reveal differential expression of circular RNA in tongue cancer revealed by high-throughput sequencing

(Submitter supplied) Circular RNAs (circRNA) are special non-coding RNAs. They are widely present, but with unknown functions. Recent studies have shown that many endogenous circRNAs have sponge function to absorb microRNAs. They can regulate target gene mRNA expression and play important roles in many biological processes. However, expression profile and function of circRNAs in human TSCC haven’t been reported. High-throughput sequencing was performed to identify and annotate from three TSCC tissues and adjacent tissues. more...

Differential expression profiles of circRNA in mice with traumatic heterotopic ossification

(Submitter supplied) To investigate whether circRNAs could participate in the pathological osteogenesis of traumatic heterotopic ossification (HO). RNA sequencing was performed to analyze the circRNA expression profile in mice HO tissues and to investigate the relevant mechanisms. We found that 491 circRNAs were significantly differentially expressed in mouse HO tissues by a fold-change ≥2 and p-value ≤0.05. Among these, 168 circRNAs were upregulated, while 323 were downregulated.

Comprehensive identification of RNA transcripts and construction of RNA networks in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

(Submitter supplied) Here, we report a comprehensive analysis of dysregulated mRNAs, lncRNAs, miRNAs and circRNAs in peripheral blood of COPD patients with high-throughput RNA sequencing. We mapped about 50~80 million sequence reads per sample to the human genome. GSEA analysis showed that these dysregulated RNAs correlate with several critical biological processes such as RNA modification, and RNA metabolism. RT-qPCR (SYBR Green assays) with more clinical COPD samples were used for the validation of some dysregulated RNAs. more...

The expression of circular RNAs in tumor tissues from three non-cirrhotic hepatocellular carcinoma patients and three cirrhotic hepatocellular carcinoma patients

(Submitter supplied) Six frozen hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) samples (three without cirrhotic and three with cirrhotic background) were selected to analyze the circRNA expression profile through circRNA-seq. A total of 20334 circRNAs were identified in these tumor tissues, which were widely distributed in all chromosomes. Differential analysis revealed that 393 were significantly dysregulated in non-cirrhotic HCC when compared with cirrhotic HCC tissues (log2(fold change) > 1 and p < 0.05). more...

Changing expression profiles of circular RNA reveal the key regulators and interaction networks of competing endogenous RNA in neurogenic bladder after suprasacral spinal cord injured

(Submitter supplied) Background: Neurogenic bladder (NB) after suprasacral spinal cord injury (SSCI) is an interstitial disease with structural remodeling of bladder tissue and matrix over-deposition. Circular RNAs (circRNAs), which have extensive post-transcriptional regulatory functions, widely participate in the pathogenesis of fibrotic diseases and may be promising new biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets. However, the expression profiles and possible roles of circRNAs in bladder fibrosis and NB after SSCI still remain elusive. more...

Transcriptome profiling of nonlactating goat mammary glands.

(Submitter supplied) The mammary gland redeveloped to the pre-pregnancy state during involution, which shows that the mammary cells have the characteristics of remodeling. The rapidity and degree of mammary gland involution are different between mice and dairy livestock (dairy cows and dairy goats). However, the molecular genetic mechanism of involution and remodeling of goat mammary gland has not yet been clarified. Therefore, this study carried out the RNA-sequencing of nonlactating mammary gland tissue of dairy goats in order to reveal the transcriptome characteristics of nonlactating mammary tissues and clarify the molecular genetic mechanism of mammary cell involution and remodeling.
