Quercetin effect on CD14+ monocyte

Analysis of CD14+ monocytes from individuals on a diet supplemented with quercetin for 2 weeks. Quercetin is a flavonoid from plant extracts used as a nutritional supplement, and has reported benefits ranging from anti-carcinogenic properties to reduced risk of cardiovascular disease.

Quercetin supplementation and CD14+ monocyte gene expression

(Submitter supplied) Quercetin has been described to have a wide range of beneficial effects in humans, ranging from anti-carcinogenic properties to reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. We tested whether a daily supplementation of quercetin leads to reproducible changes in gene expression profiles of human monocytes. Keywords: individual compound treatment

Effect of acute creatine monohydrate supplementation on skeletal muscle transcriptome

(Submitter supplied) Expression profiling of vastus lateralis muscle of young, healthy, non-obese men supplemented with creatine monohydrate vs. placebo for 10 days. Results identify transcriptional pathways activated in skeletal muscles as a result of acute creatine monohydrate supplementation. Keywords: Supplementation response.

Genome Wide Gene Expression Study of Circulating Monocytes in human with extremely high vs. low bone mass

(Submitter supplied) Peak bone mass (PBM) is an important determinant of osteoporosis. Circulating monocytes may serve as early progenitors of osteoclasts and produce important molecules for bone metabolism. To search for genes functionally important for osteoclastogenesis, we performed a whole genome gene differential expression study of circulating monocytes in human subjects with extremely low vs. high peak bone mass. more...

Washington Human Monocyte Macrophage Profiles

(Submitter supplied) In order to study the gene expression profiles of monocyte and macrophages, we collected three type of cells and performed pair-wised comparison. It includes human peripheral blood monocyte (MONO), human peripheral blood monocyte derived macrophages treated with M-CSF (MACRO)and primary alveolar macrophages (BAL). All the experiments are performed comparing two of the three cell types from the same person (total 4 persons). more...

Pathway and single gene analysis of Caco-2 cell differentiation by ascorbate-stabilized quercetin

(Submitter supplied) The aim was to investigate mechanisms contributing to quercetin’s previously described effects on cell-proliferation and -differentiation, which contradicted its proposed anti-carcinogenic potency. In a 10-day experiment, 40 µM quercetin stabilized by 1mM ascorbate reduced Caco-2 differentiation up to 50% (P<0.001). Caco-2 RNA from days 5 and 10, hybridized on HG-U133A2.0 Affymetrix® GeneChips®, showed 1,743 affected genes on both days (P<0.01). more...

Quercetin effect on intestinal cell differentiation in vitro: time course

Analysis of post-confluent Caco-2 colon cancer cells up to 10 days after treatment with ascorbate-stabilized quercetin, a polyphenol antioxidant compound. Caco-2 cells differentiate after reaching confluency. Results provide insight into quercetin's role in cell-proliferation and -differentiation.

Gene expression profiles of human promyelocytic leukemia cell lines exposed to six volatile organic compounds

(Submitter supplied) The gene expression profiles of HL-60 cells were determined for two doses (IC20 and IC50) of three chemicals (ethylbenzene, tricholoretylene and dichloromethane) and for the IC50 doses of 3 other chemicals (benzene, toluene and o-xylene) at a 3 h time point. Assays were performed in triplicate for each chemical/dose, and individual gene-expression profiles were determined for each chemical at the tested concentration doses.

Expression data of Participants of Ornish intervention and Control group

(Submitter supplied) Intensive lifestyle modification is believed to mediate cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk through traditional pathways that affect endothelial function and progression of atherosclerosis; however, the extent, persistence, and clinical significance of molecular change during lifestyle modification are not well known. Our study reveals that gene expression signatures are significantly modulated by rigorous lifestyle behaviors and track with CVD risk profiles over time.
