Amyloid precursor protein double mutant and amyloid precursor-like protein 2 deficiency effects on adult brain regions

Analysis of prefrontal cortices and hippocampi from C57BL/6 adults: APLP2-KO (APLP2-/-) or APPsα-DM (APPα/αAPLP2-/-). Amyloid precursor protein (APP) and AP-like protein 2 (APLP2) play key roles in Alzheimer pathogenesis. Results provide mechanistic insights into APP/APLP2-mediated functions.

Comparative transcriptome analysis of APPsα-DM and APLP2-KO brains

(Submitter supplied) Despite its key role in Alzheimer pathogenesis, the physiological function(s) of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) and of its proteolytic fragments are still poorly understood. The secreted APPsα ectodomain has been shown to be involved in neuroprotection and synaptic plasticity. The γ-secretase generated APP intracellular domain, AICD, functions as a transcriptional regulator in heterologous reporter assays although its role for endogenous gene regulation has remained controversial. more...

Comparative transcriptome profiling of Amyloid Precursor Protein APP family members in the adult cortex

(Submitter supplied) The β-amyloid precursor protein APP and the related APLPs, undergo complex proteolytic processing giving rise to several fragments. Whereas it is well established that Aβ accumulation is a central trigger for Alzheimer disease (AD), the physiological role of APP family members and their diverse proteolytic products is still largely unknown. The secreted APPsα ectodomain has been shown to be involved in neuroprotection and synaptic plasticity. more...

Amyloid Precursor Protein APP family members: adult prefrontal cortex

Analysis of prefrontal cortex of adult wild-type, APP knockout, APLP2 knockout, and APPsα knockin (solely expressing the secreted APPsα ectodomain) males. β-amyloid accumulation is a key trigger for Alzheimer's disease. Results provide insight into physiological functions of APP family members.
