Involved in several processes, including determination of adult lifespan; intrinsic apoptotic signaling pathway in response to endoplasmic reticulum stress; and melanotic encapsulation of foreign target. Part of protein kinase 5 complex. Is expressed in adult head; organism; presumptive embryonic/larval central nervous system; and presumptive embryonic/larval nervous system.
