Located in neuromuscular junction of somatic muscle and synaptic vesicle. Part of BLOC-1 complex. Is expressed in adult central brain; adult optic lobe glial cell; embryonic/larval salivary gland; and organism. Used to study metal metabolism disorder and schizophrenia. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome 7 and schizophrenia. Orthologous to human DTNBP1 (dystrobrevin binding protein 1).
