Enables guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity. Involved in early endosome to late endosome transport and melanotic encapsulation of foreign target. Colocalizes with early endosome. Is expressed in adult head; embryonic/larval epidermis; and larval ventral nerve cord. Used to study amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 2. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 2.
