Ubc6 - Ubiquitin conjugating enzyme 6
Enables p53 binding activity; protein domain specific binding activity; and ubiquitin conjugating enzyme activity. Involved in several processes, including negative regulation of intracellular signal transduction; positive regulation of macromolecule metabolic process; and positive regulation of mitophagy. Located in cytoplasm and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including embryonic/larval proventriculus; eye disc; larval central nervous system; larval enteroendocrine cell; and larval ventral nerve cord. Used to study congenital heart disease; metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease; and syndromic intellectual disability. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in syndromic X-linked intellectual disability Nascimento type. Orthologous to several human genes including UBE2B (ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 B).
