Art4 - Arginine methyltransferase 4

Enables histone methyltransferase activity; protein-arginine omega-N asymmetric methyltransferase activity; and protein-arginine omega-N monomethyltransferase activity. Involved in positive regulation of ecdysone receptor signaling pathway and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in cytosol and nucleus. Part of histone methyltransferase complex. Is expressed in several structures, including embryonic/larval midgut primordium; female germline cell; ganglia; head epidermis primordium; and imaginal disc. Orthologous to human CARM1 (coactivator associated arginine methyltransferase 1). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Nov 2024]
