The Ada N-terminal domain acts as a transcriptional activator of ada, alkA, alkB and aidB. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG10029]. O6-methylguanine and O4-methylthymine are the major mutagenic lesions resulting from exposure of DNA to simple alkylating agents such as N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine (MNNG), N-methyl-N-nitrosourea (MNU) and, to a lesser degree, methane methanesulfonate (MMS).
