    Summary
Enables several functions, including GTP binding activity; GTP-dependent protein binding activity; and endoplasmic reticulum-autophagosome adaptor activity. Involved in several processes, including endoplasmic reticulum membrane fusion; positive regulation of axon extension involved in regeneration; and reticulophagy. Located in Golgi apparatus and endoplasmic reticulum membrane. Colocalizes with microtubule. Is expressed in several structures, including adult head; brain; embryonic/larval midgut primordium; female germline cell; and gut section. Used to study hereditary spastic paraplegia and hereditary spastic paraplegia 3A. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in hereditary sensory neuropathy type 1D; hereditary sensory neuropathy type 1F; and hereditary spastic paraplegia 3A. Orthologous to several human genes including ATL1 (atlastin GTPase 1). [provided by Alliance of Genome Resources, Dec 2024]
