    Summary
The RcnR-rcnA promoter interaction is inhibited by nickel and cobalt; an rcnR mutant constitutively expresses rcnA (Iwig, 2006). rcnR and frmR are paralogs. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG14070]. The RcnR (resistance to cobalt and nickel regulator) protein is an addition to the set of transcriptional metallo-regulator proteins of Escherichia coli (some of the main ones are Fur, CueR, CusR, MntR, Zur, ZntR, and NikR) , regulating the transcriptional expression of a recently described efflux protein, RcnA , to maintain nickel and cobalt homeostasis . [More information is available at EcoCyc: G7137].
