    Summary
    tfaE is expectd to be transcriptionally silenced in the P-element P(+) orientation (as shown) and non-functional also because its cognate stfE' gene is truncated in the P(-) orientation (Plasterk, 1984; Mehta, 2004). TfaE is encoded as part of the lambdoid prophage e14 and is 90% identical to the tail fiber assembly protein of bacteriophage HK97 . tfaE lies within the invertable P-element and is expected to be expressed after inversion .
