    WcaB contains hexapeptide repeats. [More information is available at EcoGene: EG13570]. WcaB is believed to be an acetyl transferase involved in colanic acid synthesis based on sequence similarity and its presence in a putative colanic acid synthesis operon . wcaB was shown to not be expressed when cultured in rich medium . wcaB was shown to be upregulated in response to osmotic shock and in sessile bacteria .
