    1. Fosfomycin resistant E. coli mutants contain the deletion of uhpT encoding hexose-6-phosphate antiporter or a nonsense mutation in DNA-binding transcriptional activator UhpA (uhpA). The expression of uhpT is absent in the mutant strains with uhpT deletion and is not inducible in the strain with the uhpA mutation. The mutants have reduced growth on minimal medium supplemented with glucose-6-phosphate.
