    Rtn was originally identified as a P. vulgaris gene cloned in Escherichia coli that conferred resistance to phages lambda and N4, but it is an Escherichia coli gene, not a P. vulgaris gene. Based on a high-throughput study, the carboxy-terminus of Rtn is in the cytoplasm . rtn was originally misidentified as a gene of another organism, Proteus vulgaris .
