    1. Data suggest that expression of genes contributing to virulence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is nearly 30-fold reduced in biofilm cells relative to planktonic cells; expression of BdlA and phosphodiesterase DipA appears to follow the opposite pattern.

    2. Data indicate that the mechanism of BdlA function may have implications for the control of biofilm-related infections.
