    Summary
    acpS(dpj) was demonstrated to be an essential gene (Takiff, 1992), consistent with the results of Baba (2006). [More information is available at EcoGene: EG10247]. The acpS gene encodes holo-[ACP] synthase, which transfers the 4-phosphopantetheine moiety of CoA to the apo-ACP to form holo-ACP, the active form of the carrier in lipid synthesis .
