Acts upstream of or within establishment of localization in cell and sodium ion transport. Located in C-fiber and plasma membrane. Is active in axonal growth cone and neuronal cell body. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; immune system; reproductive system; and sensory organ. Used to study familial episodic pain syndrome 3 and hereditary sensory neuropathy. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in familial episodic pain syndrome 3 and hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy type 7.
