    Contributes to NMDA glutamate receptor activity. Involved in ionotropic glutamate receptor signaling pathway; memory; and sensory perception of touch. Located in membrane. Part of ionotropic glutamate receptor complex. Is expressed in several structures, including adult brain; adult ellipsoid body ring neuron R4m; adult head; calyx of adult mushroom body; and larval central nervous system. Used to study developmental disorder of mental health and epilepsy. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including alcohol dependence; alcohol use disorder; autosomal dominant intellectual developmental disorder 6; developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (multiple); and neurodegenerative disease (multiple).
