    Summary
    This gene encodes a SUMO deconjugating enzyme of the Sentrin/SUMO-specific protease (SENP) family. The encoded protein is a protease that exhibits deSUMOylating activity towards proteins involved in chromatin remodeling and promotes chromatin relaxation for DNA repair or transcription.
