    1. Authors show that the partner proteins for the phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated forms of CwlM are FhaA, a fork head-associated domain protein, and MurJ, a proposed lipid II flippase, respectively. Authors propose a model in which CwlM potentially regulates both the biosynthesis of peptidoglycan precursors and their transport across the cytoplasmic membrane.

    2. The peptidoglycan hydrolase cwlM gene plays a key regulatory role in biofilm formation in Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium smegmatis. This study provided a theoretical basis for using peptidoglycan hydrolase as a target for the inhibition of biofilms.
